hello Annika .. I think this is a wonderful post. I know exactly what you are going through.. it is the same that I do. I know that I want to learn French .. but just like you I procrastinate and find excuse after excuse .. Fear is with me too. What am I worried about.. its not like anyone is going to fire me or yell at me .. etc etc , in my case I know what it is .. Fear of Failing. Been with me most of my life. I now want to learn Italian too..I have just re united with a cousin and her famiy after 44 years of not seeing or speaking to each other .. and YES she lives in Italy and has done all the time.. What a waste of all those years being so close but yet not knowing. Her grown up children live there too. Also one lives in Luxembourg. so I am off to Italy in the next few months. Just got to get oveer the fear of flying on my own again. Did fly to Montreal last year on my own. I have always thought I should be at home too, but as I have no children at home and a husband that works overseas most of the year ..WHY??? Yes let this be the year for us both ??
At last! Something clear I can understand. Thanks!
That’s what we’ve all been waiting for! Great posting!
The accident of finding this post has brightened my day
You’re amazing Annika. I live in Italy and I still struggle even though hardly anyone speaks English where I am… I guess us English people are brought up with the idea that everyone else can and should learn English and then we won’t have to worry ourselves… it comes as a bit of a shock when you realise that there are many, many places where it’s hard to get along just with English. Buona Fortuna! Thank you Janie! I’m not really worried about learning Italian, it’s the action of signing up for the course that caused my anxiety. So weird.I took French in school for six years, I’ll freely admit that I only know the basics but at least I *know* the basics, I don’t have to think about them as much as I do in Italian. I’m excited to see where this course will take me!

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so
I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.

Do you have any recommendations for newbie blog writers?
I’d genuinely appreciate it.
